Kareme Young was born in Durant, Mississippi to Sherman and Brenda Young and moved to Chicago at the age of 2. He graduated high school in 1994 after attending Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences and went on to attend Mississippi Valley State University. He then started working at the post office and later built playgrounds for the Chicago Public School system. His last job before becoming an actor was a Team Lead for a youth mentoring program.
