Canadian actress, Rae Farrer, was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. The youngest of 11 children, she was never without an audience or the inspiration she relished in the forms of music, art, film, and TV. Her mother, a painter and seamstress, indulged Rae's creative pursuits from piano and jazz lessons to her self-choreographed dance recitals. As an adult, Rae crossed the border to Detroit to take in all the live music, theatre, and innovative culture the city had to offer. She graduated from the University of Windsor with a BA in English Literature and a BSc in Biological Sciences. After spending time in the corporate world, Rae moved to Calgary, Alberta where she discovered the Company of Rogues Actors' Studio, heeding the call to pursue an acting career. Since completing the Master Class Program at this New York style studio, she has performed in plays for Rogues Theatre and Workshop Theatre Calgary, and has booked many film and television roles. While acting remains her number one love, Rae continues to grow creatively with training in screenwriting and improvisation. In 2018 she wrote, starred in, and directed her first short screenplay, The Winds, for which she received a Best Actress nomination in the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers' Stinger Awards. Rae Lim exemplifies the term "ABC". Not American-born Chinese, but actually, American-accented, British-educated, bilingual Chinese actress. She also teaches, performs and competes in Latin dance to further confuse those whom she meets. The above-average Asian, Rae has been described by others as funny, funky and flirty - usually at the same time. Cute, quirky and kickass (and a massive fan of alliteration), she is primarily a comedic actress who also works in stunts and voiceovers. Being academically gifted, she graduated with honors in Psychology and completed her Graduate Diploma in Law. She then worked as a paralegal and then became a marketing director for an IT company. However, realizing that acting is her one true love, she quit her 9 to 5 and has began making waves in the entertainment industry. Her dance credits include being a competition dancer on Cuban Fury, an assistant choreographer on Strictly Come Dancing, working for the Brit Awards and several artists as a featured dancer including Gregory Porter and Kimberly Walsh. Her acting credits are equally impressive - with her first short being shown at 16 festivals and attaining 4 awards in 2014, she then went onto playing a lead role in "Edge of Sleep", a film which went to the Cannes Film Festival in 2014, and then another lead in "The Mantis", which showed in Action on Film. In between filming for guest and lead roles, Rae works in voiceovers and motion capture for video games. Her most notable characters are Lin (Cray Cray) alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in "Superhero Kindergarten", and Miao Ying, The Storm Dragon in "Warhammer: Total War 3". As a motion capture artist, she has worked for EA games, Mercury Steam, Sony, and ILM. A true triple threat, she's signed to SAFO Music Group and her soulful pop voice has been scouted by several shows such as The Voice UK. Over lockdown she has written several singles which can be found on most music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. Rae is represented by 33 Ltd, Voice Squad, and The Mocap Agency in the UK, managed by Luber Roklin Entertainment in the US and Fly Entertainment in Singapore.
